Welcome to the New White Pages!
Remember the old days, when you could call someone by looking them up in the phone book? Now most people use mobile phones, which aren't listed -- not to mention email and instant messaging. And using telephone directories, whether in print or through directory assistance, always required you to know the city where a person lived. And once you found a number, it was often outdated since the directory was only updated annually.
The New White Pages solves all of these problems by offering a worldwide, searchable directory of all contact information. It includes keywords with every record so you can find someone by interest or history if you don't know where they live. And its members create and edit their own records, so they're rarely out of date.
Privacy
Of course, nobody wants marketers or spammers to have easy access to their contact information. The New White Pages protects your privacy in several ways:
- You list only the information that you want to share. If you don't want people to email you, just don't list your email address. Or, list an alternate address that you use to filter unverified senders.
- Your information is only accessible to people, not marketing software. Before displaying your information, the New White Pages requires users to pass a "Turing test" that stops marketers from harvesting your information for their databases.
- Only those who know you can find you. You can choose a privacy level that determines how much information someone must enter to find your record. And the New White Pages never shows search results if the search terms match more than five records, to prevent someone from performing an intentionally broad search and gathering information for a large number of people.
Updates
When you join the New White Pages, you'll choose a username and password. You can then come back and log in at any time to update, add to, or remove your information. Optionally, you can set up your account to email you update reminders at the interval you choose.
Business use
Whether you're an individual or a business, it's free to join the New White Pages. If you own a business, you can use the keywords field to describe your line of work, and people searching your geographic area for your keywords will find you.
Spread the word!
The more people who join the New White Pages, the more useful it will be. After you join, please tell your friends and associates to join, too! Then you'll have easy access to each other's information whenever you need it.
