About this site
Thanks
for visiting! I'm Arlo Leach, the creator of the New
White Pages, and I'd like to tell you a little about it.
A couple of years ago, I was driving home from a family reunion, and the Chuck Berry song "Memphis" came up on my iPod. The song starts, "Long distance information, give me Memphis, Tennessee." It's a great song, but the mention of calling information for a phone number seemed rather quaint, since so much of our communication these days takes place via email, instant messaging or even cell phones. As you know, none of these are listed in a public directory like landline telephones.
This got me wondering why it couldn't be just as easy to look up someone's cell phone number or email address. If everyone pitched in their own info, we could have a free directory that contains just the info that we want people to have. And with a few protections, we could ensure that only people we know (that is, not marketers or spammers) could contact us. When I got home, I put my web developer skills to work, and built this site.
The framework is in place, and now all we need is the data! So please, if you haven't joined yet, you can register and add your info now. Remember, you only have to list as much or as little as you're comfortable with. Then ask your friends to join, so you can find their info as easily as they can find yours.
