Frequently Asked Questions
Why would I want to join the New White Pages?
The New White Pages does a few things that the "old" white pages can't do:
- Lists your cell phone number, email address, and IM screen name
- Offers keyword searches so old friends can find you even if they don't know where you live
- Lets you add your information so you can decide what to share and what to keep private
What can I find in the New White Pages?
The New White Pages is the easiest way to find certain kinds of information. For example:
- Look up an old school friend even if you don't know where he or she lives now
- Look up a regular associate if you don't have his or her contact information handy
- Find a particular type of business in your area
Why can't I find the person I'm looking for?
Most likely, they haven't joined yet. The New White Pages only includes information that people enter about themselves, and the site is still new with relatively few members. You can make it more useful by encouraging all of your contacts to join! In fact, you can use our invitation form to send an automated message.
How does the New White Pages protect my privacy?
The New White Pages protects your privacy in several ways:
- Only you can add your information to the database, and you can list only the information that you want to share. If you don't want people to email you, for example, just don't list your email address. Or, list an alternate address that you use to filter unverified senders.
- Your information is only accessible to individuals, not marketing programs. Before displaying search results, the New White Pages requires a visual confirmation that stops marketing software from harvesting your information for their databases.
- Only those who know you can find you. You can choose a privacy level that determines how much information someone must enter to find your record. And the New White Pages never shows search results if the search terms match more than five records, to prevent someone from performing an intentionally broad search and gathering information for a large number of people.
Who operates this website?
